How I work

I see adults in Putney using an integrative approach, which means I try to adapt to the needs of each client, drawing on different kinds of counselling to understand the shape of their current life, their relationships, and their hopes for the future.

Specifically, I use psychodynamic methods to look at how your past may have created patterns which are affecting your present, a person-centred approach to focus on your feelings right now, and existential ideas to put your concerns in a larger context of finding meaning. The aim is to provide relief, understanding, and ultimately movement towards a more satisfying life.

I previously worked in film and television, and I understand the ways academic and professional settings can overtax us and chip away at our well-being, and the pressure to cover up our difficulties and be “okay”. I also trained as a teacher of English as a second language, and so recognise how hard it can be - especially as adults - to walk into an unfamiliar environment and expose our vulnerabilities.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I studied Classics at Oxford and then the postgraduate diploma in integrative counselling and psychotherapy at the University of East London, graduating with distinction.
